Dr. Howson-Jones

Dr. Howson-Jones was born and raised in Langley, BC – participating in community groups and activities throughout her childhood. Her elementary school, Langley Central Fundamental, gave her the foundation she needed for a lifetime of learning. Mountain Secondary would be her high school, where she loved science and music – what a combination! But it was her desire to help people that would point her towards the healthcare field and an after-school-job that would spark her interest in dentistry.

Dr. Howson-Jones received her Bachelor of Science with Specialization in Microbiology from the University of Alberta in 2004. Then in what would be a wonderful adventure, she completed her Bachelor of Dentistry degree at the University of Sydney, Australia in 2009. After just a short time working as a general dentist in public health in Sydney, Dr. Howson-Jones would pursue her pediatric specialty training. In 2012 she received a Diploma in Pediatric Dentistry and training in treatment of individuals with special health care needs from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Dr. Howson-Jones is a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada and an active member of the following professional organizations:

• Canadian Academy of Pediatric Dentistry
• College of Dental Surgeons of BC
• BC Dental Association
• Royal College of Dentists of Canada
• BC Society of Pediatric Dentistry
• Canadian Dental Association
• American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry
• Southeastern Society of Pediatric Dentistry
• Alabama Chapter of Pediatric Dentistry

Recently appointed as Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of British Columbia, Dr. Howson-Jones is enjoying teaching final year dental students at their Douglas College satellite clinic. She plans to continue her involvement with UBC Dentistry as a chance to give back and inspire other young female dental professionals, and you may see a student in her office helping out from time to time.

Dr. Howson-Jones is happy to be back home in Beautiful British Columbia, catching up on lost time with family and friends, whether it be camping, hiking, swimming or just enjoying a good book. Family is paramount to who she is. She and her fiance, Rick, are kept extra busy these days with their new addition, ‘Kobe.’ They hope you will get to meet their delightful pup!
